Steve Maestas and Air Tight Boxing returned to the beautiful Palladium tonight for their sophomore effort there. Although not as strong a card or crowd it was a near full house who was on their feet most of the night. Also in attendance was the playoff bound Denver Nuggets including Carmelo Anthony. In the main event Miguel Pasillas exacted some revenge from Brad Jensen winning a tough six rounder. RMB scored it 4-2 in rounds or 58-56. Judges ringside saw it similiar at 57-57, 59-55 & 58-56 giving Pasillas the majority decision. Can you say 'rubber match'? In the co-main Elisha Olivas overwhelmed Dorene Hilton at 1:27 of the second round. Hilton was game and came to fight, she was simply outclassed. The opening bout saw Art Cruz and Randy Ortega put on an exhibition that was nearly a fight by the end. Juan Camacho, coming off of his state Golden Gloves title, made his pro debut taking on Tyree Tidwell. Early on it looked like Camacho would have his hands full but by the end of the first he was in complete control. Camacho lands a hard right hand that sends Tidwell to the canvass giving Camacho the TKO at 1:01 of the second. In female action Asia Mays picked up her first win over fight club veteran Kristin Teutch by TKO at :10 of the second. In the final bout of the night Travis "The Mighty Whitey" Biechler stopped Shane Fuller with a counter right hand, right on the button. The end came at 2:34 of the first round. The Nuggets really got a kick out of Biechler and they were soon calling him Butterbean. It was a decent show with another great crowd. Air Tight may have found a new home. |
