Adrian Mora Back In Action!

Adrian Mora will be back in action October 22 in El Paso, Texas.  Mora is unbeaten, but now tested, having won a well deserved split decision over tough veteran Steve 'The Mongoose' Quinonez in his last outing.  After watching the win over 'The Mongoose' I quickly dubbed Mora 'The Cobra' as his height and wide back seemed very cobra like.  Mora's next test will be against Francisco Bojado conqueror Juan Carlos Rubio.  Rubio, like Quinonez,  is a forty fight veteran with a 30-7-2 record (Quinonez is 30-7-1) and should be another good test for Mora who is perfect at 12-0.  Mora continues to take tough fights on the road in his quest to 'step it up', showing the confidence he has in his skills.  Mora will give anyone problems at 135-140lbs with his freakish height and reach at nearly 6'2" and he has proven skills fighting on the inside as well as from range.  I would love to see Mora and Diego 'Chico' Corrales go at it in the tallest 135lb bout in history!  Over 12 feet of lightweight fury!

'Stoner' Jones Pulls Off The Upset!

Local boxer, via transplant from Ghana, Russell 'Stoner' Jones pulls his second upset in as many fights stopping undefeated prospect Arturo Quintero who came in at 13-1 with 9 knock outs.  Jones went into Quintero's backyard, Nevada, and handed him his second loss as a professional.  It seems as though Quintero was winning a competitive fight when Jones nailed him with a hard left hook near the end of the sixth.  Quintero survived the round but it was only a matter of time before Jones stopped him 20 seconds into the seventh round with another left hook.  Jones hooked up with local trainer Aurelio Martinez and has done well since.  His first bout back after a 3 1/2 year layoff was a split decision loss to Tommy Aragon.  He has since won two in a row having dealt local favorite, Hector 'The Chin Checka' Saez his second pro defeat back in July and now upsetting Quintero.  A quick look at his record shows he has been in with some of the best, accounting for most of his 11 losses, and more than held his own.  Before his layoff he lost consecutively to Lamont Pearson, Zahir Raheem, Daniel Attah and Phillip N'Dou.  These four were a combined 58-1!  Hopefully Martinez can give Jones a little more guidance and the opportunity in some more 'winnable' fights.  Can Martinez help Jones turnaround his career this late in the game?  That remains to be seen.

New Mexico’s Vicente “El Picosito” Garcia has had the door of opportunity open for him this week as Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions called Team Nuevo Mexico and has asked for Vicente to fight for a possible promotional deal with a fight on October 22nd in El Paso, Texas’s Don Haskins Center and a Telefutura Boxeo Show. Gomez said, “ We want to see him in action and if we like what we see we will go from there.” His opponent will be Solomon Tellez from Santa Ana, Ca. With a 2 win 2 loss record.
Vicente is a 18 year old with three pro fights when he was 17 he is undefeated and is fighting this Friday September 24th in a boxing show at the Kiva Auditorium for his first fight at 18 years old. Speaking with Albuquerque’s newest Professional Boxing Promoter Glenn Lucero. Lucero said, “This is exciting news for our boxing show and also for New Mexico boxing fans as one of New Mexico’s youngest professionals is about to represent our States pros in the National level.” Lucero is promoting the September 24th show and has plenty of talent on this card with Ray Sanchez The Third fighting for a WBC Latino Title, others on the card include Elco Garcia from Duranago, Colorado. Mile High Pro Showdown
Quick Results

Here are the quick results from CC Edwards and Moonlight Productions Mile High Pro Showdown.  Donald Camarena stopped Tommy Aragon in the third to become the new WBC Intercontinental Mundo Hispano Champion.  In the co-main Ayo Fadeyi scored a unanimous decision over a very game Sheldon Callum.  The undercard was full of last minute substitutions.  Terry Cruz and Mercedes Mercury put on a decent exhibition.  Mike McMillen embarrassed himself and boxing when mid way through the first round of his bout with Jose Beltran he turned his back and quit, before absorbing any real punishment.  Terrible.  DeAndrey Abron and Mike Alvarado both knocked their last minute subs out in the first round as expected.  We will have a full fight report and photo gallery tomorrow.

Lemos Boxing Is
Back & Better Than Ever!

Kenny 'Sagrado Warrior' Lemos' website is back up and running with a new and improved design that is truly first class.  It is the S.O.B. work of Robert Lemos who also works on Denver Fight News. (sweat of brow, gotcha!) Robert is very talented and this site is a masterpiece.  Congratulations are in order as Robert recently took a position at DCTV, our local access station.  I'm sure he will do well.  Kenny may have a bout coming up very soon, we will keep you posted.  Be sure to check out the site as it is really worth the time, I promise.  If RMB ever gets 'big time' with a paid staff, Robert would be a first round pick for sure.

Jonathan Corn Fights On

Jonathon Corn fought on a card in Las Vegas this past weekend and lost a tough fight to contender Alejandro Garcia who moves to 28-1 with every win coming by knock-out.  Corn slips to 51-10-1 by his own acccount.  Boxrec lists him at 43-10-1.  Why are we reporting on JJ Corn?  He is a recent transplant to Denver and is working out of the House of Pain gym with Steve 'MatchMakin' Maestas.  Corn is as nice a guy you could meet as I found out at the last Melee on the mountain card.  He is a very proud Native American whose respectful, soft-spoken manner make him easy to like. When I spoke with him about his bout he was very honest and open in saying that Garcia can really punch.  Corn went on to say "I really felt like I was starting to figure him out after the second or third round....I was getting him where I wanted him and he caught me.  It fractured my nose and blood was everywhere.  There's no quit in me, I quickly got to my feet to continue, but my corner stopped it.'  In closing Corn wanted to really emphasize his commitment to 'giving back to the sport that I have taken so much from and been given so much by.  I enjoy working with the amateurs and giving advice to other boxers, it's a way of giving back.'  Corn's Native American values come pouring through as you can quickly see the relation in beliefs.  It's very refreshing to see in a sport that is over run with arrogance and greed.  Corn has a very respectable record with over fifty wins.  I'd like to see him give it a go with some of the local talent including Ayo Fadeyi and Elco Garcia.   Could be some great match ups.  Regardless of who he fights he knows he will continue on.  'I'm not done.  I still have a ways to go.'

Champion, Donald '2-Slick-2-Quick' Camarena taking on New Mexico's Tommy 'The Cobra' Aragon in an eight round Super Light Weight WBC Intercontinental Mundo Hispano Title Fight!  (try saying that quick 3 times) In the Co-Main Ayo Fadeyi will face Sheldon Callum of California in a six round super middleweight bout.  In the feature bout local prospect Larry 'Pitt Bull' Gonzales will continue his rise to the top in a six rounder with Kansas City's Jeff Carpenter.  In a special attraction bout local knock out phenom Mike Alvarado will take the next step in his pro career fighting nineteen fight veteran Robert Manore, in only his fourth fight!  The under card is quite impressive as well featuring up and comer Anthony 'T-N-T' Turner who will look to spoil the debut of Arsedel 'Ozzy' Andrews.  There are also two female bouts featuring Terry 'Lil' Loca' Cruz with an opponent to be announced and Janae Archuletta in a four rounder with Colorado Springs Sarina Heyden.  The show will be held at the Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum, Hangar 1 located at 7711 E. You will be home in time for DeLa Hoya vs Hopkins!  Ticket prices for this incredible line up are spit bucket cheap at  $20 for pre sale general admission with reserved seating only ten bucks more at $30!  This is an all ages show so I encourage all the local amateur coaches to bring their boxers to see championship boxing in Colorado!  With children 10-15 years old getting $15 general admission tickets and children under 9 being absolutely free, there's really no reason not to!  Not too shabby for a WBC Championship card!  Prices will be $25 & $35 at the door so get them right now, right here at RockyMountainBoxing.com or by calling 720-231-7724 we will deliver tickets to your door!  This show has the potential to sell out the 3000 seat arena so get them soon.  A portion of the proceeds will go to the Denver Police Protection Association Relief Fund (www.DPPA.com) so come out and support a great cause and take advantage of the chance to see some of the very best prospects in Colorado, all on one championship card!
